The Day of the Float
CHECKING IN: 9:30am Check In for Vessels, 11am Start Float
All crafts will need to meet at the Graehl Landing boat launch. There you will find registration tables for those who have registered early and for those registering the day of the event. Please check in at your corresponding table.
There is always paperwork to be done. Insurance forms will be required for anyone under the age of 18. BOTH PARENTS OF A MINOR MUST FILL OUT INSURANCE LIABILITY FORMS UNLESS IT IS A SINGLE GUARDIANSHIP.
If your craft hasn’t been pre-registered then you will likely need to pay. We can accept cash and/or credit cards at the registration tables.
Depending on the height of the river, some floats may be required to enter the river from the boat launch at the Big I. We will measure the height of the water the day of the Regatta and will direct you there if you don’t have adequate clearance from the bridges.
While the Regatta is officially finishing at the Pioneer Park boat launch we won’t hold it against you if you would like to float further. It may actually be a great way to avoid traffic. Down river options include The Boatel or Chena Wayside.
Oh yeah, traffic. Pioneer Park will likely be very busy with all of the float pulling out at the same time. We ask that participants be patient with our volunteers as we do our best to make sure everyone leaves the river and the parking lot safely.
We’re wrapping up this year at the Big I at 3:00pm the day of the float. That’s where you’ll know if you won one of this years great prizes. Wondering what the categories are? Check them out here.
Above all, we want this to be a fun filled time on the Chena River. Please be safe and courteous. This is not a race, it’s a flotilla of fun. If you have any questions please use the contact form or find us on Facebook to get updates. Enjoy your float!
